The success of hospitalist care can be attributed to bringing a group of experienced healthcare professionals together in a coordinated team effort. The hospitalist is assigned to assist the patient and maintain a close working relationships among other hospitalists, primary doctors, nursing staff, caseworkers and therapists.

If you are a patient who has been assigned an IPA Columbus hospitalist, the hospitalist will:

  • Work with you, other hospital staff members and physicians to coordinate your care.
  • Provide frequent follow-up visits during your stay and will be available to discuss treatment plans and answer questions.
  • Make timely decisions based on any changing status.
  • Notify your primary physician of any unexpected changes in your condition.
  • Call your primary physician to review your clinical course upon dismissal.
  • Fax your doctor a summary discharge report on dismissal.
  • Assist you in getting in touch with your doctor to assist with follow-up care.
